Overview:

Responsibilities:

The Paralegal will report to the Vice President and Deputy General Counsel and will provide general paralegal and administrative support for all attorneys in the Legal Department (currently five lawyers). The position is based in the Company’s Houston headquarters.

 

  • Facilitate the preparation and filing of various regulatory forms and applications
  • Organize and maintain the Legal Department’s document retention database
  • Manage the administration of master service agreements (MSAs) with vendors
  • Interface and collaborate with external legal counsel as necessary
  • Manage compliance with litigation hold requirements
  • Complete or assist with annual reports and other statutory filings for company entities as required
  • Assist with managing document production for legal proceedings
  • Assist with ethics and compliance programs
  • Assist with drafting legal contracts, correspondence and other documents
  • Undertake special projects as assigned, and perform other paralegal and administrative duties as required
  • Provide internal notary services as a Certified Notary Public
  • Manage department mail
  • Code law firm and legal vendor invoices for payment, research and resolve discrepancies as necessary and prepare wire transfer and check requests
  • Participate fully in all Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives and safety programs
  • Follow Diamond Offshore Global Excellence Management System (G.E.M.S.)

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher with paralegal education or formalized paralegal studies
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a paralegal role in an in-house or law firm environment, managing and executing legal work product and processes
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills and relationship skills
  • Strong interpersonal/listening skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced, multi-task team environment with multiple projects and deadlines and competing priorities
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products and other technology tools
  • Ability to create complex documents, spreadsheets, PowerPoints and advanced graphics
  • Ability to draft, edit and proofread internal and external correspondence, ensure files are organized, manage electronic schedule as appropriate
  • Proficiency using virtual data rooms to upload and organize documents
  • A strong commitment to integrity and professionalism
  • Notary Public

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with international subsidiaries and operations
  • Oil & Gas industry experience (preferably regarding offshore or marine operations)
  • Experience advising and interacting with CEO, COO, CFO and other senior executives
  • Proven track record of being creative, exercising good judgment and being a quick decision-maker and self-starter
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Paralegal certification
