Responsibilities:

The Tax Director, Global Operations will report to the Vice President, Tax and will be responsible for a wide range of tax responsibilities to ensure compliance with U.S. and foreign tax laws.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

The Tax Director, Global Operations will:

  • Manage the group's global corporate income tax planning, compliance, and controversy resolution functions
  • Manage the group's compliance obligations under U.S. (federal, state, and local) and foreign tax laws (other than those in respect to employee wages and importation/exportation of equipment and goods)
  • Identify and assess tax planning opportunities and implement tax planning initiatives
  • Monitor relevant tax law developments
  • Negotiate advanced pricing agreements and other rulings with tax authorities to reduce uncertainty regarding application of tax laws
  • Coordinate with the Tax Director, Financial Reporting to ensure ASC 740 compliance
  • Coordinate  with group's in-house counsel to ensure intragroup transactions are properly memorialized in written contracts and agreements and that such agreements are consistent with the group's transfer pricing policies
  • Advise contracts & marketing organization of relevant tax considerations in connection with bid analysis
  • Review group's contracts with customers, vendors, and service providers to minimize the group's tax costs/risks
  • Participate fully in all Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives and safety programs
  • Follow Diamond Offshore Global Excellence Management System (G.E.M.S.)
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications:

Basic

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions
  • Master of Accountancy or Master of Laws (Taxation) degree from an accredited university
  • CPA or Licensed Attorney
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in U.S. Federal Income Tax or International Income Tax compliance/planning

Preferred

  • Public accounting experience
  • Industry experience (Oil Field Services)
  • Exposure to cross-border taxation issues and U.S. anti-deferral regimes
  • Experience with Thompson Reuters ONESOURCE OIT and OTP software
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
