Responsibilities:

The Staff Accountant (GOM Operations) will report directly to the Accounting Manager and assist with all accounting functions related to Diamond Offshore's domestic drilling operations, specifically focusing on those in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. Key duties entail close partnership with International Shorebase Offices to support international drilling endeavors and maintain effective communication channels with local and global accounting teams and operations personnel to ensure efficient task completion. This role presents a distinctive chance to actively contribute to our organization's financial operations in a dynamic and collaborative setting.

 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

The Staff Accountant (GOM Operations) may:

  • Prepare monthly journal entries to account for activities related to drilling operations, including recording expenses, operating statistics, amortizations, equipment leases and/or service agreements.
  • Interface with Operations to ensure that revenue, expenses, accruals, and deferrals are properly calculated, recorded in the appropriate period, and in a timely manner.
  • Review cost center profit and loss statements, including analysis and commentary of variances and trends.
  • Perform bank and account reconciliations as required.
  • Work with the travel department to ensure monthly and quarterly reports are received and entered into the system timely.
  • Work with Treasury and Operations team to ensure that P-card reports and support are received, properly coded, and entered timely.
  • Work with Accounts Payables to maintain and support vendor maintenance activities.
  • Understand and adhere to SOX and other mandated documentation and reporting requirements.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as required.
  • Ensure compliance with the Company’s policies and procedures.
  • Participate fully in all Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives and safety programs.
  • Follow Diamond Offshore Global Excellence Management System (G.E.M.S.)

Qualifications:

Basic

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited university.
  • Demonstrates a solid understanding of and the ability to articulate fundamental accounting concepts.
  • 2 or more years of accounting experience, including preparing journal entries with a focus on profit and loss statements and variance analysis.
  • Intermediate Excel skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred

  • Actively or willing to pursue CPA credentials.
  • Experience working in the oil and gas industry.
  • Experience working with international locations or teams.
  • ORACLE ERP and OneStream experience.
