Overview:

Responsibilities:

The Floorhand will report to the Driller or Assistant Driller and will be responsible for carrying out operations on the Drill Floor and elsewhere as directed.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

The Floorhand may:

  • Assist in the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the MODU's drilling equipment
  • Immediately report to the Driller or Assistant Driller any actual or potential hazard encountered or observed
  • Perform routine maintenance of drilling and other equipment, and cleaning and painting on the rig floor, or any other area as requested by the Driller or Assistant Driller
  • Notify the Driller/Assistant Driller of any defect/anomalies found during maintenance duties
  • Assist the Driller/Assistant Driller in carrying out their duties as required and authorized by the Driller
  • Assist any less experienced crew member and provide them with advice on Company policies and procedures until relevant experience is gained
  • Act as, if so designated, and accept the responsibilities of, a "Person in Charge of Worksite (PICWS)" as defined in the Company Permit to Work System Manual
  • Assist in maintaining well control at all times as outlined in the Company Well Control Policy statement and detailed in the Company Well Control Manual
  • Communicate effectively with other members of the drilling staff to ensure safe, efficient "handover" of operations and with all other members of the MODU workforce, Company employees, operator's representatives and third party employees to ensure the safe efficient conduct of operations on-board the MODU
  • Perform maintenance in line with drilling equipment planned maintenance schedules
  • Perform emergency duties as required by the Station Bill
  • Assist, when required by the OIM, Rig Superintendent, Toolpusher or Driller in the performance of other tasks when the MODU is not engaged in drilling operations to include marine operations, anchor handling, tow-wire handling, deck work, protective coating maintenance and construction/repair operations during breakdown or shipyard periods; and administrative duties, e.g., preparing and maintaining inventories
  • Participate fully in all Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives and safety program and in pre-tour/weekly safety meetings
  • Follow Diamond Offshore Global Excellence Management System (G.E.M.S.)
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications:

Basic

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Possess or able to obtain a valid Transportation Worker's Identification Credential (TWIC). Any candidate selected for this position will not be allowed to begin work without a card in hand or proof from the TSA of a card "In Production" or "In Transit."   • Legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction
  • Willing and able to be away from home in excess of 21 days 
  • 1 or more years of previous offshore drilling experience and/or 2 or more years of land rig experience

  

Preferred 

  • High School diploma/GED
  • 3 year of previous offshore drilling experience 
  • Possess or able to obtain a valid passport
