    Responsibilities:

    Primary Responsibilities:

    The Commercial Analyst may:

    • Act as thought partner to the Global Contracts and Marketing and Supply Chain teams providing recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and identify business opportunities
    • Coordinate, implement, and maintain integrated financial models to quantify bid opportunity economics
    • Conduct detailed financial and operational analyses of the Corporation's business activities to support its global strategic supply chain efforts
    • Performs analysis of financial and operating information as requested including:
      • Spend analysis
      • Data mining from Oracle, MAXIMO, and other systems
      • Total cost of ownership analysis
      • Trend analysis
    • Conduct detailed variance analysis on opportunities won based on actual versus forecasted economics
    • Develop, implement, and maintain integrated financial models to quantify bid opportunities
    • Maintain and report commercial and operational performance KPI's that align with business development and supply chain goals
    • Analyze offshore drilling market pricing and supply/demand balances to identify implications for commercialization opportunities
    • Provide additional ad hoc modeling and reporting as needed
    • Participate in customer and vendor facing meetings as needed
    • Generate and develop Excel and PowerPoint content for customer meetings and board presentations
    • Participate fully in all Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives and safety programs
    • Follow Diamond Offshore Global Excellence Management System (G.E.M.S.)
    • Perform other duties as required

    Qualifications:

    Basic:

      • Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions
      • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Management, Business, Economics, Information Systems or Engineering from an accredited university 
      • 1 or more years of experience with data analytics, data science or commercial modeling
      • 2 or more years of familiarity with energy industry
      • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required. Candidate should be able to create and use pivot tables, use advanced functions including VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP

     

     

    Preferred: 

     

      • Advanced degree in Finance, Accounting, Management, Economics or Engineering from an accredited university
      • Strong analytical skills to identify critical themes and highlight decision points among large/complex data sets
      • Expert-level excel skills including the ability to manage large data sets, pivot table fluency, strong knowledge in formulas, Boolean expressions, graphing expertise, and data cleansing
      • Fluency with commercial modeling and analysis
      • Ability to pull raw data from Oracle, and convert into customer-facing content
      • Strong PowerPoint skills which includes converting informally defined concepts into content suitable for external executive audience
